Nairobi, Kenya [15] May 2023: Kenya’s Avenue Group Limited (“Avenue” or “the Group”), an Evercare Group company, and Curalie Health Limited, a Kenyan subsidiary of Helios Global Health, today announced a new 12month exclusive partnership to provide extended care to patients with chronic disease.

The partnership is in line with Avenue Group’s strategy to expand its telemedicine capabilities and deliver digital care to chronic disease patients, including those with conditions such as diabetes and hypertension. The aim of the partnership is to extend accessibility, improve outcomes and manage the cost of treatment for these patients.

Curalie Health’s platform will be integrated with Avenue Group’s existing telehealth services, enabling healthcare providers to remotely monitor and manage chronic disease patients’ health status. The platform will also provide patients with personalized health education, reminders for measuring vital data, and behavior change coaching.

“The Avenue Group operates a truly integrated healthcare system, driven by our purpose to transform healthcare in Kenya. This partnership is the first milestone as part of our MOU signed with HELIOS earlier this year. It represents a significant step towards improving access to quality care for patients with chronic disease. We are excited to work with Curalie Health to provide innovative and patient-centric solutions to improve patient outcomes,” said Imran Osman, CEO of Avenue Group.

“Our partnership with Avenue Healthcare marks an exciting achievement in the delivery of high-quality digital healthcare for chronic disease patients. By combining Avenue’s physical care with Curalie’s digital remote monitoring, we aim to optimize patient care through the integration of technology and traditional healthcare services,” said Omron Blauo, Curalie, Executive Director Africa.

“We are delighted to partner with Avenue Group to make digital care accessible to more people in Kenya. We know that the only way to sustainably improve healthcare is to combine digital healthcare services with traditional forms of care. This partnership aligns with our vision to ‘Provide access to care to everyone, everywhere and every time’, and make medical care accessible to as many people as possible. This vision aligns perfectly with Avenue Group’s patient-centric approach,” said Daniela Hommel, CEO of Curalie Health. Enrico Jensch, CEO of Helios Global Health added “that with this first international collaboration we together can set a milestone for building up, refining and individualizing healthcare for patients around the globe”.

“At Evercare, we are dedicated to bringing quality healthcare services closer to our patients and communities. As we continue to pursue this mission, we recognize that technology and telemedicine will play an increasingly important role. Through our collaboration with Curalie Health, we are excited to leverage digital health solutions to improve access to care for underserved populations in Kenya, aiming to address the growing public health challenge of chronic diseases and make a positive impact on patient lives.” said Massimiliano Colella, CEO, Evercare Group.

Avenue currently operates 3 hospitals and 15 clinics, supplemented by multiple homecare and telehealth services, reaching more than 430,000 patients a year. Over the last three years, the Group has strengthened its management team, upgraded its facilities, and expanded its operations, while playing a critical role in the country’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Most recently, Avenue expanded its reach with the launch of the new Boardwalk Clinic in Kenya. Leveraging the resources of the broader Evercare network, Avenue is on a digital transformation journey, making significant investments in digital healthcare services and knowledge transfer systems for clinical talent.

Jide Olanrewaju, Business Unit Partner at TPG and its Evercare Health Fund, added, “The private healthcare sector in Kenya is a prominent contributor to healthcare outcomes in the country providing 52% of all healthcare services to help fill the gaps in patient care, especially among traditionally underserved communities. Curalie has a strong track record of achieving improved patient outcomes in developed markets and through this new partnership we aim to bring their capabilities to Kenya and advance our quality healthcare offerings through the delivery of preventative, specialized and digital care.”

The partnership between Evercare and Curalie provides an exciting opportunity to advance the quality of healthcare services in Kenya. Based on the Avenue Group’s leading facilities and established clinical expertise and Curalie’s expert knowhow in digital healthcare management, we look forward to establishing advanced centres of excellence and expanding our outreach through telehealth services.
