Exclusive partnership to extend digital care to chronic disease patients

Since May 2023, we have been working closely with the Kenyan Avenue Group Limited, an Evercare Group company. The aim of the partnership is to increase accessibility of quality care, improve patient outcomes and manage the cost of treatment in chronic care. Curalie Health’s platform will be integrated with Avenue Group’s existing telehealth services, enabling healthcare providers to remotely monitor and manage chronic disease patients’ health status. Curalie will provide patients with personalized health education, reminders for measuring vital data, and behavior change coaching.

Personal Data

Why do I have to state my weight and height?

To calculate the calories burned during your activities, we need information on your height and weight. If you book a video consultation (tele-doctor), the doctor needs some information about you beforehand to better gauge your health situation.

Why do I have to provide my cell phone number and e-mail address when I sign in?

Because you store your health data and medical documents in the app, we follow a very stringent security standard and provide double protection for your account using two-factor authentication. 

To help us ensure that no unauthorized parties access your information when you log in, we need to be able to identify you uniquely using your contact information. To do this, we use the four-digit sign-in code. As the second security component, we send you a text message containing a confirmation code every time you log in.  

The combination of the sign-in code and the text message code helps us ensure that your account cannot be hacked. 

We need your e-mail address to send you security-related information. We specifically do not use it for other purposes. 

Data security

Are my data secure with Curalie?

Your data are strictly confidential and are safe with us. From contact information and health data to medical documents, treating all this information confidentially is a top priority for us. We comply with all of the applicable laws and regulations and use the very highest security standards.

Logging in

Since we work with sensitive health data, we play it safe by using double protection for your account (two-factor authentication).

For your data to be secure, we need to make certain each time you log in that no unauthorized persons can gain access. This means we need to identify you uniquely based on your contact information. We do this in two ways. First, we use the 4-digit login code. As the second factor, we send you a text message containing a confirmation code every time you log in. You can use this code to verify your identity in the app, confirming that it is really you using the app. 

By combining the code and text message code, we ensure that your account cannot be hacked.

Hosting

We obligate our hosting providers to comply with all applicable security standards relating to data protection.

Encryption

All health data and documents are encrypted. To do this, we use state-of-the-art encryption methods (such as SSL).

Who has access to my data?

All data concerning you that are stored in the app (such as the information in the health journal, the Symptom-Check, or stored documents) are treated as strictly confidential, and you are the only person who can view this information. However, if you are linked with a medical institution in the app (for example via a video consultation), the medical professional or doctor involved has access to your documents through that person’s Curalie account.

Documents

You can use the Curalie app (in the profile) to store important documents. These documents are encrypted, and they are treated as strictly confidential.  

Who has access to my documents?

All documents are encrypted in the Curalie app. If you are linked with a medical institution in the app (for example via a video consultation), the medical professional or doctor involved has access to your documents through that person’s Curalie account. 

Can a doctor delete my documents or photos?

You have full control over your documents and photos. You are the only person who can delete your documents. 

If I delete a document, can my doctor still access it?

If you delete a document from the app, that applies to all parties. This means even your doctor will no longer have access to that document within the Curalie app. However, the doctor can download and save the document for documentation purposes before it is deleted.

My Curalie account 

Why do I have to enter my data when I sign in?

Curalie works with sensitive health data, so we have to ensure no one else can access them. This means we need to be able to identify you uniquely based on your contact information. We use your cell phone number to send you a text message containing a confirmation code every time you log in. You use this code to verify in the app that it is you logging in. In a way, this is like showing your ID. The combination of the sign-in code and the text message code helps us ensure that your account cannot be hacked.  

In addition, if you book a video consultation, the doctor is required to verify your identity. Your contact information is also needed for this.

How do I delete my Curalie account?

You can delete your Curalie account directly in the app. To do this, simply go to “Settings” in your profile and click “Delete account.” If you need help, please contact our support team. They will be happy to help you at support@curalie.com or 00254-207904537. 

Symptom-Check 

What is the Symptom-Check feature? What does it help me do? 

Symptom-Check is a freely available feature in the Curalie app that you can use to have your symptoms interpreted quickly and easily. If you are experiencing symptoms, click the “Symptom-Check” button. You will be asked first about possible risk factors. Then enter your symptoms. The program analyzes the information you have entered about key symptoms and uses a specialized medical algorithm to identify the most likely diagnoses. 

If necessary, you can make an appointment for a phone consultation afterward. 

Who can see my Symptom-Check results?

The results of the Symptom-Check are visible to all doctors with whom you have scheduled a video consultation or with whom you are linked as part of a health program. If you are not linked to a medical institution, only you can see your data.

Why do I have to be at least 18 years old to use the Symptom-Check feature? 

The likely diagnoses are determined based on a medical algorithm. This algorithm currently only covers adult illness and diseases. There are difference in the medical content involved in diagnosing children, so the adult information does not apply.

Is the video consultation secure?

We want you to feel comfortable during your video consultation. Our goal is for you to be able to talk with our medical experts online with the same level of trust as usual. That’s why the security of your data is a top priority for us. We use a secure server to provide particular protection for your data. You don’t need to worry that anything you discuss with your online doctor might be accessible to others. Our top priority is protecting your data and observing the very most stringent security standards. Beyond that, doctor-patient confidentiality always applies, whether online or in person.

Is the phone consultation secure?

Our goal is for you to be able to talk with our medical experts on the phone with the same level of trust as usual. That’s why the security of your data is a top priority for us.
